Drug and alcohol rehab centers always have several balancing acts to achieve while assisting drug abuse clients to find sobriety. One is between dealing with the past, present and future. Helping people dealing with the realm of the past is primarily a counseling issue. Moving past our histories and old behaviors many times is best handled by competent and caring counselors. Even in a a luxury residential drug abuse treatment center it is not possible to be all things to all people. It seems that some drug abuse treatment centers are trying this, but how can this make sense? What I am talking about are drug abuse treatment programs that profess to be both 12 step and cognitive based at the same time. How can this be?

If you follow the 12 steps you must at some point come to accept that you are powerless over drugs and alcohol. You then are to turn it over to a higher power, what ever you believe that to be. This may seem like an over simplification, but these are part of the foundation of 12 step.

Luxury residential drug rehabilitation centers in Malibu, CA focus on the individual, and the individual addiction. Specific drug abuse, like cocaine, is an epidemic and it’s as important to get your loved one into drug detox, and into drug rehabilitation as understanding the nature of the addiction… What is Cocaine addiction?

Cocaine addiction can occur very quickly and can be very difficult to break. Animal studies have shown that animals will work very hard (press a bar over 10,000 times) for a single injection of cocaine, choose cocaine over food and water, and take cocaine even when this behavior is punished. Animals must have their access to cocaine limited in order to prevent taking toxic or even lethal doses.

Researchers have found that cocaine stimulates the brain’s reward system inducing an even greater feeling of pleasure than natural functions. In turn, its influence on the reward circuit can lead a user to bypass survival activities and repeat drug use. Chronic cocaine use can lead to a cocaine addiction and in some cases damage the brain and other organs. An addict will continue to use cocaine even when faced with adverse consequences. Dependency can develop in less than 2 weeks. Some research indicates that a psychological dependency may develop after a single dose of high-potency cocaine. As the person develops a tolerance to cocaine, higher and higher doses are needed to produce the same level of euphoria.

Crack abuse is a devastating disease. If you’re here, reading this, you probably don’t need to be told that crack addiction strips its victims of their dignity, and their capacity for hope, and turns them into shells of the people they used to be. But that doesn’t have to be the end of the story. As destructive as crack abuse can be, proper crack rehab can fix what’s broken. The only catch, of course, is that you have to be the one to take the first step.

Crack treatment can’t start until you let it. After all, crack rehabilitation facilities don’t work miracles. They can’t help patients who refuse to help themselves, or heal addicts who won’t walk through the front door. If you’re going to get better, it’s going to be because you find the courage to make the right decision. Given the stakes in the fight against crack abuse, you can’t afford any other course of action.

Cocaine addiction ruins lives. That much should be obvious. To be a victim of cocaine abuse is to be stripped of one’s dignity, and one’s capacity for hope. But that doesn’t have to be the end of the story. If you or someone you care about has a cocaine problem, professional cocaine treatment can make a world of difference. The only catch, of course, is that you have to seek it out. Given the stakes, you can’t afford not to make the right choice.

Cocaine addicts don’t get better outside of private cocaine rehab centers. That’s simply not the way the healing process works. Cocaine abuse is a disease, not a choice. No one ever decides to be a junkie. By the same token, no one can ever simply decide to get sober. Professional cocaine addiction treatment will quite literally change your life. You owe it to yourself, and to the people you care about, to learn that truth on your own terms.
