It’s not as bad as you think it is. I went to one back in the day and I’d love to say that it wasn’t a big deal. If I did say that I would be lying because going to alcohol rehab was a big deal. It was definitely one of the best things that I’ve ever done for myself, and it was a big deal. I hated being the drunk that I was before alcohol rehab. I was a slave to alcohol and I was deep within its clutches. It sucked. If you don’t already know it, alcohol rehab is really bad. It can completely destroy your life whether you want to believe it or not. I remember how I felt when I was going through it all. It was a freaking nightmare. I couldn’t get the sauce off of my brain. I was always thinking about getting another drink or getting a buzz from a couple of beers. Who wants to live like that? It isn’t fun and it can truly kill you. I love the fact that alcohol rehab was there to help me. I don’t what I would have done if alcohol rehab didn’t exist. Thanks alcohol rehab.

Alcohol rehab programs are not for the lazy. Let’s get that much on the table, before we go any further. Alcohol rehabilitation isn’t for the lazy, and alcohol treatment doesn’t work by magic. If you’re going to get healed in your time at an alcohol rehabilitation center, it’s going to be because you do what it takes to make sobriety a real and vital and meaningful thing. Short of that, you can’t ever expect to get sober for good.

 

All that said, alcohol rehab programs are still vital to the alcohol rehab process. Yes, the alcohol rehabilitation fight is ultimately one you’ve got to win or lose according your own efforts…but you need help if you’re going to come out on top. The best alcohol rehab programs are the ones that empower their patients, and help them develop the skills they need to help themselves. So please, don’t be a hero here. The best soldiers are the ones who understand the importance of their allies. To win the battle against alcoholism, you’re going to need all the friends you can get.
