Substance abuse is like bad dream that never ends
Substance abuse is like a bad dream that never ends. To be a victim of addiction is to be trapped in a state of boundless need, and haunted by a sort of insatiable craving. Substance abuse, simply stated, turns substance abusers into shells of their former selves, stripping them of their hope and their dignity and their capacity for joy. The good news is that substance abuse treatment really can fix all that…provided it’s given the chance.
Private substance abuse treatment centers don’t work miracles. Even the most exclusive substance abuse treatment facility in Los Angeles can’t help a patient who refuses to walk through the front door. What that means, of course, is that you have to take the first step in the fight against substance abuse. If you want to get sober, you can. If you commit yourself to your substance abuse treatment program, you will. The choice is yours to make. Here’s hoping you have the strength to do the right thing.
